National “Change A Pet’s Life” Day January 24, 2024
If people want to change the world, one place to start is changing the life of a pet. National Change A Pet’s Life Day is January 24, 2024. The primary emphasis of this day is to encourage pet adoption, rescue, and care. At Aussie Pet Mobile, we believe changing the life of a pet changes your own world and everyone you impact.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) gives annual statistics:
- 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. shelters
- 920,000 animals are euthanized
- 4.1 million shelter animals are adopted
- 810,000 stray animals are returned to their owners
The numbers have been trending in the right direction in the U.S. and more can be done. Helping a stray animal is now likely to lead to a family reunion rather than euthanasia. Adopting a pet saves money and comes with a basic level of confidence in the pet’s health. Rescuing abused animals may be one of the greatest examples of human empathy and care.
