As your trusted groomer, the style of the cut is just as important to us as it is to you. At Aussie Pet Mobile, you determine the cut you want, but our groomers will start with a recommendation of a cut and length of coat based on the breed and ask you if there is anything you want done differently. Sometimes you may not know which cut will be best for your pet, especially if you are a new pet owner or have a new breed in your family. Here is some helpful information on cuts and breeds; but don’t worry, our qualified and trained groomers will be there with you from start to finish to make sure the perfect cut is selected.

  • Consider the breed: Dogs that tend to tear a lot and accumulate ‘sleep” around their eyes may need to keep a short muzzle and beard. Based on their coat type, single, double, or triple-coated breeds are also a factor in selecting the best cut to help in overall maintenance.
  • Matting: Consistent grooming combats matting, but it can happen, and in these instances your pets may be in discomfort and even have limited mobility. More stubborn mats may need to be cut out instead of brushed through, and a severe case may even need a shave-down.
  • Consider the weather: A summer cut is not necessarily a style but rather indicates a lightening up of pets' coats specifically on heavier-coated dogs that do well in cold climates but may not need to carry around the extra layers when it heats up outside.
  • Maintenance matters: Not all cuts and styles are created equally; you will want to consider the grooming maintenance needed. Keeping hair longer will require daily brushing to prevent matting and tangling. Always on the go? Shorter cuts can save time and are considered limited maintenance.
  • What is their lifestyle: Aside from being your best friend, does your pet enjoy the great outdoors or prefer lounging inside? Their daily routine helps determine which cut is best for them. Prone to heavy play outside, a shorter cut may be best to help prevent dirt and debris from getting stuck in their fur.
  • Showtime: Is your pet showing up and showing out at local conformation events? You will want to ensure the cut selected adheres to their breed standards, so they always bring home the blue ribbon.
  • Play up their personality: Your dog’s style can highlight more than just their breed; it can show off their personality! Teddy bear face cut or lions mane trim, let us help your pet shine in looking their best.
